Ah, the warm weather is finally here. And you know what that means?? SPRING FASHION. Well, it is finally time to unzip your garment bags and pull out your favorite warm weather ensembles. Every year we trade our bulky sweaters and cozy boots for flirty blouses and dainty sandals. Each season brings with it new trends, intriguing new designers, and most importantly, the fabulous opportunity to re-vamp your wardrobe!
Last season a common trend was romantic florals and an overload of sun dresses. Soft pinks and lavenders were showing up everywhere! Everything was very sweet and innocent. Well, this season has taken a complete 180 degree turn, and much to the delight of me, and many more.
Common trends on the runway this year included whites, brights, and its all in sight. The phrase Go Big or Go Home has never been more applicable. Scarlett reds, lime greens, bold blues, and anything that pops is making it’s prime time debut.
The 70’s are predicted to make a huge comeback. Platform sandals have already been seen on stars such as Fergie, Eva Mendes and Jessica Simpson. Loose, flowy tops with a bold print, paired with either short shorts or tight cropped pants make up a great outfit. Maxi dresses have been seen all over the sunny streets of LA.
Crisp, clean, white can be just as bold as hot pink or bright yellows. A structured white blazer paired with dark wash jeans and a sequin tank top can create a stunning look. Or, wear a bright top with white cropped jeans. Finish it with some platform sandals to incorporate some of the 70’s vibe.
And of course, spring wouldn’t be complete without some florals. This season, stick to the bolder prints. Last season, most of the patterns were on the smaller scale. So this season, go with the larger flowers. Big prints equal bold and beautiful.
One trend that I have yet to explore, is men’s wear as women’s wear. With the right tailoring for your body type, I do actually think that is a worth while trend to follow. Just be sure not look too frumpy.
One of my favorite online sites is Lulu’s. It always has the newest ideas, no matter what season! This season, be bold, be colorful, but the clearest message this season is to have fun!
